I found a pattern for a fly called a red matchstick, and tried to make it. It is supposed to be made with some pheasant tail feather bits. I had some tail feathers of something, not sure what, but they seemed to do. Then the tinsely bit – I’m getting neater at that now. The head I made from embroidery silk, but the fastening off with black thread rather spoilt it.
